WALKING TOUR OF HISTORIC DOWNTOWN

OCEAN CITY, MD - Most of us are familiar with the fun side of Ocean City, the amusements, restaurants, hotels and of course, the ocean. How much do we know about the unique role Ocean City, Maryland has played in our nation's history? If the ocean could speak, it would tell us stories of adventure and daring that will bring awe to all who listen. Since neither the ocean nor the land is able to bring us the facts, we must rely on the voice of those who lived the experiences and the historians who recorded them.

The Downtown Association of Ocean City, Maryland speaks of Ocean City's earlier days in their newly released brochure titled Walking Tour of Historic Downtown Ocean City, Maryland. The guide points out landmarks of historical interest in the downtown area, providing interesting facts about each location. A brief history of the island's history is included. the Walking Tour also has an easy to follow map for the use of pedestrians of drivers.

Copies of the brochure are being distributed at Visitor Information Centers throughout the state of Maryland. You may obtain a copy from the office of the Downtown Association located at 605 South Baltimore Ave., Ocean City, MD.
